Geneva Consultations of No Value Unless Terrorism Sponsors Pressured to Halt Support for Terrorists- Al-Mikdad

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Any future Geneva Consultations on Syria will be fruitless and of no value unless the countries which have sponsored terrorism are pressured to stop their support for terrorist organizations in Syria, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad warned on Wednesday.

Interviewed by the Syrian TV, al-Mikdad stressed that the UN team needs to hold consultations with all parties including the countries which support terrorism before holding Geneva III. He pointed out that these consultations should be consistent with the results of Moscow Consultative meetings.

The deputy minister condemned the vicious role played the Turkish political leadership which keeps facilitating the flow of takfiri terrorists towards Syria, thereby delaying Syria’s victory.

“We don’t interfere in the Turkish People’s affairs, we always stress that the Turkish people are friends of the Syrians,” Al-Mikdad said, stressing that the Turks have to make a change and hold members of their current leadership accountable as war criminals and terrorism supporters.

He reiterated that Syria’s ties with its allies like Russia and Iran are strategic and effective in the course of events.

The Syrian diplomat affirmed that Syria has succeeded in uncovering the Turkish and Saudi sinister role in supporting the terrorism which is now threatening the entire world, urging the Security Council to adopt direct resolutions against Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

He pointed out that some European leaders have been bribed by Saudi Arabia as to hinder any resolutions that may contribute to solving the crisis in Syria.
