MOSCOW-Members of the “Syrian opposition” resumed their talks on Tuesday within the framework of the second Inter-Syrian Consultative Meeting in Moscow aiming to come up with a common agenda to be discussed during their meeting on Wednesday with the Syrian government’s delegation.
The consultations are being held under the supervision of Head of the Russian Orientalism Institute Vitaly Naumkin behind closed doors and away from the media.
The first Consultative meeting, which was held last January, adopted a joint statement that stressed the necessity of fighting terrorism, preserving Syria’s sovereignty, rejecting foreign interference and attaining a political solution to the crisis. The statement also called for lifting the sanctions imposed on the Syrian people, condemned the Israeli attacks on Syria and urged the Security Council to implement its resolutions 2170 and 2178 relating to drying terrorism resources.
The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic to Moscow meetings is led by Syria’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations Bashar Al-Jaafari.
