Syrian- Belarusian Joint Committee: Economic, Industrial cooperation and Future Projects for Reconstruction
MINSK,(ST)_ Belarusian Minister of Economy Vladimir Sinofsky expressed satisfaction with the results of the Syrian – Bulgarian Joint Governmental Committee, especially items in the final protocol for the said committee 6th session.
In an interview with SANA correspondent in Minsk, Sinofsky said that it was emphasized in the final protocol on cooperation in economic, industrial and technical education, social and medical services fields, noting that the meeting discussed several projects in various fields, especially manufacturing Belarusian tractors in Syria and the transfer of electric technologies to it, besides a series of other promising projects.
The Belarusian Minister expressed his confidence that bilateral cooperation between his country and Syria will continue to evolve, wishing all the best for the Syrian people.
For his part, the Syrian Industry Minister Kamal el-Din Tohme said in a similar interview that relations between Syria and Belarus will help to overcome Western sanctions imposed on the two countries, noting the sincere desire of the Belarusian side to deepen and expand relations between the two countries, especially in the economic, commercial and technical fields.
Minister Tohme said that the signed protocol states supplying engineering machinery, tractors and buses as a first stage and later to set up joint ventures to assemble the aforesaid equipment, as well as cooperation in, both plant and animal agriculture, education, and pharmaceutical industries.
For his part, the Syrian ambassador in Minsk, Bassam Abdul Magid said that the 6th session of the Joint Intergovernmental Committee falls within the framework of improving and developing relations of friendship and cooperation between Syria and Belarus in order to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples, pointing out the participation of a large group of Syrian businessmen in discussing and drawing prospects of cooperation between the two countries.
Worthy mentioning, that the Syrian – Belarusian joint committee on trade, economic and technical cooperation concluded the work of its 6th session held in the Belarusian capital Minsk on Thursday by signing the meeting’s final protocol by the Syrian Minister of Industry Tohme on the Syrian side and Minister of Economy Sinofsky on the Belarusian side.
The Belarussian minister of economy described the final Protocol as a road map for the implementation and completion of future projects that have been identified after agreed upon in order to develop economic relations between Syria and Belarus.
