Mrs. Asmaa Al-Assad visited al-Aman orphans House, St. Gregory Society for Orphans and Elderly Care in Damascus: Supporting Orphans with Every Possible Care
DAMASCUS, (ST)_ In the context of her sponsorship of orphans centers with the aim to raise them properly, to prevent exploitation and to make of them active individuals in building the nation and society Mrs. Asmaa Al-Assad visited yesterday al-Aman orphanage house and St. Gregory Orthodox society for orphans and elderly care in Damascus, where she toured through several new classrooms in al-Aman house, which were built according to best standards.
Mrs. Al-Assad learnt from the house management about the situation of children and efforts to enable children to become active and influential members in their community, stressing the fact that “taking care of orphans in natural conditions is a moral and humanist duty, and that this needs greater efforts in such exceptional circumstances”.
In Saint Gregory Society Mrs. Al-Assad discussed with the children all their affairs, and encouraged them to continue to strive to achieve what they aspire to in the future, stressing that learning is the greatest gift that can be provided by the orphans to all those who support them for many years to provide them with the appropriate conditions for success in their study.
Mrs. Asmaa thanked supervisors of orphanages for their hard work in providing care for orphan children in order to be able to live a better tomorrow.
She noted that the last two years have witnessed more awareness and enthusiasm among citizens about the need to support orphans and provide them with all possible care, pointing to the joint responsibility of state institutions,the private sector and civil society to work together to continue to provide the required care for orphans and their caregivers.
