Haidar Stresses Importance of Cooperation with de Mistura’s Work Team to Make Reconciliation a Success
DAMASCUS, (ST)-Minister of State for National Reconciliation Ali Haidar and Director of the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura’s Office Khawla Matar on Wednesday discussed fruitful cooperation between the Ministry and the UN envoy’s work team on the details of de Mistura’s plan to freeze fighting in Aleppo.
Haidar said both the ministry and de Mistura’s work team are concerned in two basic files; national reconciliation and political dialogue, hoping that the de Mistura’s plan won’t be applied only to Aleppo but it will hopefully expand to cover other areas as to get positive results that reflect positively on the Syrian citizen’s life.
The minister stressed the need to put principles for cooperation in field work to attain local reconciliation which is “the fate of the Syrians” and which reduces the effect of the foreign factor in the battle and builds a strong base for launching the political process.
“The attainment of any achievement on the Syrian land, including the de Mistura plan, is an achievement for all the Syrians,” Haidar said, asserting the importance of a clear joint vision in any work plan as to make reconciliation efforts a success.
On her part, Matar, who affirmed the necessity of continuous coordination with the ministry of national reconciliation, said that de Mistura has visions to be applied in other areas other than Aleppo.
