Mogerena: resolving Syria Crisis Politically, Including all Parties, Government Involved

BRUSSELS, (ST) _ High Representative for the EU Foreign and Security Policy Federica Mogerena announced that the European Union’s position on the situation in Syria “is clear and has not changed” and that the solution to its crisis can be achieved through a “negotiated political process” in which all parties involved including representatives of the Syrian government.

Russia Today TV quoted Mogerena as saying in a press statement in conclusion of the EU foreign ministers’ meeting yesterday that the union met representatives of the Syrian government to search for a political settlement to the crisis because “the settlement must include all parties.”

However, the EU foreign ministers, whose decisions are dominated by France and Britain voiced “support for a political solution in Syria and appeal to all parties, which has an impact on all the powers to make necessary pressure to push everyone to reduce violence and engage in the political process.”
