March Revolution, landmark in Syria’s modern history
March 8 Revolution is considered a luminous turning point in Syria’s modern history as it brought about great achievements in all domains of life. Syrian people commemorate these days the March Revolution, which has been a landmark in Syria’s modern history and a strong reply to the situation of backwardness and disunity which targeted the first unity in modern Arab history between Syria and Egypt.
The Revolution was strong reply to the secession of the first unity in the modern Arab history, namely the Syrian Egyptian unity which was broken up by the enemies of the Syrian people in cooperation with some local reactionary forces that were linked to colonialist forces at that time. On March 8th 1963, Syrian people revolted against attempts to marginalize Syria’s pan-Arab role in defence of the Arab causes. The March Revolution has made Syria, the first defender of just Arab causes, especially the central cause of the Arab people, the Palestine question. The March Revolution made Syria the key player in the Arab region and the main supporter of the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle against Israeli occupation to liberate its occupied lands and restore its inalienable rights to self-determination and the establishment of its independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The March 8 Revolution was and still is an example to be followed by the peoples who are fighting against injustice and arrogance to achieve national interests and open new prospects for development and modernism. The Revolution has created radical changes in the Syrian society in all domains of life laying the foundations for developing the economic infrastructure and carrying out great projects in service of citizens and society, especially in the fields of agriculture, industry and higher education.
Thanks to the steadfastness of the Syrian people, the heroic deeds of the Syrian Arab army and the wisdom of President al-Assad, the Syrian people will emerge victorious in the global war being launched against Syria. The victory against conspiracy will enable Syria to preserve its pioneering role in supporting pan-Arab causes, especially the rights of the Palestinian Arab people.
History repeats itself. The forces that conspired against Syria in the past are now trying to revive their colonialist dreams through hatching a global conspiracy against Syrian people with the aim of diverting Syria from its firm principles in confronting the colonialist and Zionist projects in the region that aim to change Syria and the Arab region into tools in the hands of the US and Zionism. Syria’s enemies have been conspiring against Syria with the aim of undermining the Revolution’s pan-Arab project of democracy and unity. Syria is confronting a conspiracy hatched by the US, Israel and their Arab and regional allies. Syria will be able to foil such conspiracy, which targets Syria’s resistance role, thanks to the steadfastness of its people, the heroic deeds of its armed forces and the wisdom and courage of its leadership. The current situation in the country proves that the global war against the Syrian people, army and leadership aims at undermining the principles of the March Revolution and making Syria abandon its firm national and pan-Arab stands in confrontation of the Zionist projects.
Syria is confronting the biggest aggression perpetrated by the US, its Western allies and regional and Arab tools. Syrian people, who have been adhering to the noble principles of the March Revolution and the sublime values of the Correction Movement, are confident of victory against the conspiracy which is considered a continuity of the conspiracies which were concocted against Syrian and Arab people since the beginning of the 20th century. What makes the Syrians believe that the plot will be foiled is the Syrian Arab army that is protecting the homeland, tightening noose on terrorists and eradicating them to preserve Syria as a free, independent country and immune to foreign intervention. The Syrian army, which was one of the great achievements of the March Revolution and the Correction Movement, is achieving tangible and substantive progress in clearing Syrian cities of the takfiri terrorism through targeting terrorists who were exported to Syria from over 83 states to destroy Syria’s infrastructure and kill Syrian people.
Inspiring the spirit of the March Revolution, Syrian people will foil the plot and preserve Syria independent and sovereign country.
