DAMASCUS, (ST)- Finance Minister Dr Ismail Ismail recently discussed with South African Ambassador in Damascus Sean Benfeldt prospects of cooperation between the two countries and taking advantage of South Africa’s expertise in the areas of training, the work of customs, banking and tax.
Dr. Ismail expressed his appreciation for the positions of the South African government towards Syria, stressing the importance of developing economic relations and cooperation with South Africa.
He referred to the government’s strong desire in and economic activities to move the wheel of production, despite the difficulties encountering this process and in particular ensuring energy which is necessary for the basic starting point in the production process.
For his part, the Ambassador Benfeldt expressed his country’s desire to develop and strengthen economic ties with Syria and strengthen the bonds of friendship and constant communication.
