PROVINCES,(ST)_Syrian army has regained control of a town in Sweida countryside a day after it recaptured a strategic hill in Lattakia countryside, according to the official news agency (SANA).
The agency said today that army units imposed control over Abo Harat town in Tal Asfar area, which lies 45 km north-east of Sweida, and defused several explosive devices planted by terrorists in the town.
The fresh progress came a day after army units regained control over the strategic Dwerin hill in the northern countryside of Lattakia and killed the general military leader of al-Nusra Front, Abo Homam al-Shami who is dubbed al-Farouq al-Souri, along with other ringleaders in a qualitative operation in al-Hbit town outside Idlib.
10 explosive devices defused
In another development, an army unit in cooperation with the competent authorities defused 10 explosive devices- planted by terrorists- in the eastern Palmyra countryside.
A rocket that was prepared to be exploded by remote control as an explosive device near Arak town in the northeastern countryside of Palmyra was also defused amid continuity of military operations against terrorist organizations outside Homs, Daraa, Lattakia and Idlib.
Dozens of terrorists, some of them of foreign nationalities, were eliminated on the outskirts of the oil Jzal field which is located north-west of Palmyra city.
An arms cache belonging to terrorists was destroyed in Zamalka town in the eastern Ghouta of Damascus during a qualitative operation.
The operations in the eastern Ghouta resulted in the death of many terrorists affiliated to The al-Nusra Front and the Islam brigade including a Yemini and a Palestinian.
While the operations in the northern countryside of Lattakia resulted in the destruction several armored cars plus two depots containing explosive devices and bombs belonging to the al-Nusra Front.
On the other hand, SANA reported that al-Nusra Front terrorists opened fire on worshipers as they were exiting the big mosque in Beit Sahm town in the southern countryside of Damascus.
Several civilians were wounded.
