Continuation of Crisis in Syria Serves Zionist Interests

An Iranian deputy foreign minister says the persistence of crisis in Syria is benefiting the interests of the Zionist regime.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, made the remark on Thursday in a meeting with the visiting Director of Middle East at British Foreign Office Edward Oakden.

Amir-Abdollahian said the crisis in Syria should be resolved through political means and that improvement of human conditions in the Arab country should be high on the agenda of the international community.

He also underscored the need for an all-inclusive national dialogue in Syria and an immediate disarmament of terrorist groups, emphasizing that classifying armed terrorist groups as good, bad and moderate was odd and incomprehensible.

The senior diplomat said the surge in massacres in Syria is the result of supply of weapons to the militants whom the West considers as moderate.

The British diplomat, for his part, said his country will continue to exchange views with the Islamic Republic in order to help restore peace and security to the Middle East region and deal with common threats particularly extremism and terrorism.

The US and its regional allies, including Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, have supported the terrorist groups operating against the Syrian people.
