Syria, South Africa Discuss Oil Cooperation

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Suleiman Al-Abbas recently discussed with the Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa Sean Benfeldt ways of cooperation in the field of oil, gas and investing in mineral wealth.

The two sides discussed the possibility of investing in the field of development and manufacture of phosphate industries and the partnership in the existing refinery projects in Syria, the establishment of joint ventures in the field of oil services and in the field of exploration.

The Minister welcomed the Republic of South Africa’s companies wishing to invest in Syria in the field of oil, stressing that “companies of friendly countries will have priority in the investment opportunities available in the future.”

For his part, the ambassador expressed his desire to brief on investment opportunities in the oil, gas and mineral wealth and create opportunities for cooperation of mutual interest to the two peoples in the two countries.
