Fighting Terrorism is Beginning of End of the Humanitarian Crisis in Syria_ Ambassador

Geneva-, (ST) _ Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva Husam eddine Alaa stressed that terrorism is the main reason for the emergence of human suffering of the Syrians.

In a statement during the regular meeting organized by the UN Office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs yesterday, ambassador Alaa called for adopting a new approach in dealing with the humanitarian situation in Syria, based on giving priority to address the reasons behind the emergence of human suffering and to admit that the fight against terrorism and eliminating it constitute the beginning of the end of the humanitarian crisis in Syria.

He said that humanitarian needs originated mainly in areas wreaked havoc by armed terrorist groups, noting these groups practices, as documented by the UN, in stealing relief supplies and preventing the delivery of humanitarian aids to many areas.

He explained that statistics issued by UN humanitarian agencies operating in Syria confirm the Syrian government’s cooperation in reaching the delivery of humanitarian aid through the Syrian Arab Red Crescent to all areas in Syria without discrimination, adding that the Syrian government’s cooperation with the UN and its humanitarian agencies are in accordance with the response plan agreed for 2015 as part of the national efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian citizens, affected by terrorist crimes, which have been targeting their lives and property, as well as state public property and service institutions and the infrastructure in many areas.

He reiterated the need that the UN to lift the illegal unilateral measures imposed by some countries on Syria, in violation of the UN Charter and the international law.
