Syrian people to Decide their Own Future_ Iranian Official

TEHRAN, (ST) _ Iranian Foreign Minister Assistant for Arab and African Affairs Hussein Amir Abdul Allahyan stressed that the Syrian people will decide their own future, congratulating the Syrian army for its recent field victories, especially in the southern region.

During a meeting yesterday in Tehran with members of the Syrian media delegation which participated in the celebrations of the 36th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution Allahyan stressed Syria’s role in “regional and global equations,” stressing that political solution is the only way to solve the crisis in Syria,based on enhancing national reconciliation.

He pointed out that President Bashar al-Assad emphasis on national reconciliation was fruitful and a very important step.

“As the Syrian government and people were able to fight terrorism, they will also be able to manage the political process, strongly, “the Iranian official underscored.

For their part, members of the Syrian media delegation pointed to latest developments on the Syrian arena, the determination of Syria to continue fighting against terrorism and the achievements of the Syrian army in defeating terrorism and terrorist organizations as well as the efforts to promote national reconciliation and reconstruction of Syria.

Members of the delegation noted Syria ‘s support for Iran since the victory of the Islamic Revolution and that the Iranian and Syrian peoples had a common struggle in defense of the rights of other people in the region especially the oppressed Palestinian people.

The Syrian media delegation includes Elias Murad, head of the Journalists Union, Dr. Abdul Latif Omran, Director General Chairman al- Baath newspaper, Ali Kassem, chief editor of al-Thawra daily, Maher Kholi director of al-Talaqi TV channel, Dr. Ali Shuaibi political writer and announcers Wafa Asaad and Ranim Mohammed.
