Syria, Belarus Sign New Agreements

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Prime Minister Dr. Wael al Halaqi, during a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir MacKay and his accompanying delegation, underlined the government’s keenness to build bridges of cooperation with friendly countries, particularly Belarus.

“Trade agreements recently signed between the two countries are real evidence of Belarus to mitigate the consequences of the terrorist war on Syria and its people, calling the Belarusian companies and businessmen to establish development, service, industrial, technical and agricultural projects in Syria,” Dr. al -Halaqi pointed out.

For his part, Vladimir MacKay expressed his country’s desire to enhance and develop economic and trade relations with Syria and to stand by the people in the face of the unjust economic blockade.

Talks dealt with mechanisms of activating agreements signed between the two countries and signing new agreements in the areas of joint factories of engineering industries particularly cars, city buses, tractors and pharmaceutical industries and the establishment of glass and electric industries and the contribution to the reconstruction of Syria.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Industry Kamaleddin Tomeh, Head of Planning and International Cooperation Commission Rima Khadri, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Ayman Susan and Belarus ambassador in Damascus.
