Bogdanov, EU Official Discussed Means of Resolving Crisis in Syria

MOSCOW, (ST)_ Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and African countries, and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed in Moscow yesterday with the head of the of the European Union EU delegation in Russia Vaegaodas Ouchetskas ways of resolving the crisis in Syria.

In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that during the meeting, which came at the request of Ouchetskas discussions dealt with preliminary results of the consultative meetings between the Syrian government opposition figures delegations, held in Moscow on January 26-29.

On January 14th, Bogdanov discussed in Moscow with Simon Gess head of the political section at the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs means to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria and anti-terrorism issues.

Bogdanov repeatedly confirmed Russia’s positions towards resolving the crisis in Syria politically, to that the priorities of the Russian initiative in this direction are based on Russia’s firm stance which considers the solution in Syria should be political, to be attained through internal dialogue among most Syrian components, at the will of the Syrians themselves and on the ground of the Syrian state legitimacy and terms of reference.
