PYONGYANG-The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has reiterated its support for a peaceful political solution to the crisis in Syria based on the will of the Syrian people and away from foreign interference, a source at the Foreign Ministry of Democratic Korea said on Thursday.
The source renewed solidarity and cohesion with the Syrian leadership as to attain peace, stability and prosperity.
Commenting on the consultative meeting held recently in Moscow between the Syrian government delegation and representatives of opposition forces, the DPRK Foreign Ministry said the results of the meeting have reflected the will of the Syrian government and people who seek stability and want to guarantee Syria’s sovereignty over its lands.
The ministry warned that “America and Europe’s blatant interference in the Syrian affairs and their conspiracy against the sovereignty and stability of the Syrian state pose a serious threat to regional and international peace and security.”
Last week’s Moscow Consultative meeting concluded after the Syrian government and five opposition parties and figures agreed on a package of principles presented by Russia under the name “Moscow Principles”. Those principles focused on preserving the sovereignty and unity of the Syrian state, fighting terrorism, settling the crisis in Syria through peaceful means, rejecting foreign interference, maintaining the Syrian Arab Army as a symbol of national unity and preserving the state’s institutions.
