Chemical Weapons Prohibition Organization Welcomed Destruction of Chemicals Production Facility in Syria

UNITED NATIONS, (ST)_ The UN Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons announced complete destruction of the underground facility for the production of chemicals in Syria on January 31st, 2015.

The UN Radio reported that the International Organization inspectors verified this matter and declared the destruction the facility in the same day.

The organization’s director general Ahmad Ozomicho welcomed this step which has been delayed for some technical reasons, hoping that the remaining destruction activities will proceed forward according to the set plan.

last September, head of the joint mission of the Organization of Banning Chemical Weapons and the UN Sigrid Kaag expressed during her farewell to Syria gratitude for Syrian government constructive and fruitful cooperation, which has led to the completion of an unprecedented work by the joint mission, adding that this task would not have been possible without the cooperation of the Syrian authorities with the mission, and confirmed the necessity of dealing with Syria in light of this achievement as a state party to the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
