OSCE SMM to Ukraine Calls for Humanitarian Corridor in Affected Areas

The head of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) on Wednesday called on all sides of the Ukrainian conflict to facilitate and support the truce to allow for creation of humanitarian corridors in areas affected by deadly military action.

The head of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) on Wednesday urged all sides of the Ukrainian conflict to establish a temporary truce that would allow for creation of humanitarian corridors in areas affected by deadly military action, especially around the contested town of Debaltseve.

“The SMM stands ready to facilitate and support the truce, which should take effect immediately and stay in place for a minimum of three days,” Ambassador ErtugrulApakan said in a statement posted on OSCE website.

The call by Apakan echoes Tuesday’s appeal by OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Serbian Foreign Minister IvicaDačić to all parties to work towards a sustainable ceasefire and full implementation of the Minsk agreements.
