Dujarric: UN Supports Russian Efforts to Attain Political Settlement in Syria

NEW YORK-The United Nations supports all attempts to attain political settlement in Syria, including Russia’s important and continuous efforts exerted to hold the Moscow Consultative Meeting, UN Chief Spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Tuesday in his daily press conference.

Dujarric pointed out that UN representatives are constantly contacting their Russian colleagues within the framework of the Russians’ “important and continuous efforts” to hold inter-Syrian dialogue.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said yesterday in the news conference of the Foreign Ministers of the (RIC) Group; Russia, India and China, that the echoes of  Moscow Consultative Meeting between the Syrian government delegation and representatives of different opposition forces were positive.

He pointed out that some Syrian “opposition” figures who couldn’t take part in last week’s consultative meeting in Moscow expressed their will to travel to Russia to participate in the coming meeting.
