FM Statement: terrorist acts will not Undermine Syria Resolve to continue Fighting Terrorism, its Groups and Mercenaries
DAMASCUS, (ST) _ In two identical letters to each of the Chairman of the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General about the terrorist act which targeted a civilian passenger bus on Sunday in the city of Damascus the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry condemned in the strongest terms terrorism in all its forms.
“On Sunday, February 1, 2015, Damascus city was hit by a cowardly terrorist act targeting innocent civilians in the daily rush hour on a civilian passenger bus by an improvised explosive in al-Kallasa area, near al-Hamidia crowded market, resulted initially in the death of six civilians and wounding more than 24 others, including children and heavy material damage in property while a second explosive device was defused by the army engineering units,” the messages said.
The ministry stressed that this terrorist act is part of a series of similar terrorist bombings targeting innocent civilians in most Syrian provinces by rocket-propelled grenades and mortars and so-called “artillery of Hell” and various improvised explosive devices since almost four years at the hands of armed terrorist organizations, hired by regional and international countries, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, adding that these repeated acts of terrorism by takfiri organizations against innocent civilians and places of worship reflect the nature of these hostile obscurantist Wahhabi ideology hostile to human civilization.
“This terrorist bombing in the most prestigious and oldest commercial markets in the city of Damascus, besides terrorists indiscriminate shelling of Aleppo city and ” Daesh “terrorist organization slaughtering of two Japanese citizens, all come in a series of acts of destruction and killings, beheadings and cannibalism committed by armed terrorist groups including,”Daash”,”al-Nusra front ” and “free Army” and “army of Islam” and other al-Qaeda affiliated armed terrorist organizations against man and humanity since the beginning of the crisis in Syria until now” the statement added.
Condemning all forms of terrorism in the strongest terms, the statement stressed, that Syria reiterates its demand for the UN Security Council and the Secretary General to condemn these terrorist crimes and calls for taking necessary measures to hold accountable the perpetrators and those who stand behind them, of regional and international countries and powers, in implementation of UNSC resolutions on counter-terrorism, especially resolution 2170,which requires cooperation of world countries cooperation and coordination with Syria’s efforts in the war against terrorism.
“The Syrian Government stresses that these terrorist acts will not undermine nor weaken its resolve to continue the fight against terrorism and its groups and mercenaries and that Syria will continue, simultaneously, the effort to achieve national reconciliation and find a political solution to the crisis in Syria based on inter- Syrian dialogue under a Syrian leadership,” the statement concluded.
