Economy Minister: Syrian- Armenian Future Investment Projects

Damascus, (ST) – Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Hammam  Al -Jazairi recently discussed with the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in Damascus Dr. Archak Poladian ways to promote economic and trade cooperation and the foundation of investment projects in Syria.

The minister pointed to the need to strengthen the Syrian-Armenian relations of trade,economic and investment level in order to achieve the common interest of both countries.

“The development of relations should not be limited to enhance the volume of trade, but must be extended towards the foundation of investment projects in Syria, noting the positive  and effective role of the  Syrian- Armenian Business Council,” the minister said.

The Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade confirmed that the ministry is ready to provide the necessary support to the Syrian- Armenian Business Council and to all the events and activities that serve the development of relations between the two countries, calling for the preparation of an intensive action plan for the next phase between the two sides at the government level to enhance communication and create new structures for the development of relations.

Dr. Al -Jazairi pointed to the role of the Armenian economic activities, which live in Syria, especially the owners of professions and business, who make up one of the mainstays of the national economy.

“Syria is willing to join officially to the Eurasian Customs Union” which Armenia became a member of it since the beginning of this year because of its importance in achieving the common benefit of all Member States and opens promising markets for Syrian products  and more investment with friendly countries,” Dr. Al -Jazairi added.

For his part, Armenian ambassador pointed to the significant development of the relations between Syria and Armenia over the past decade, but the decline in recent years as a result of exceptional circumstances experienced by Syria, expressing his wishes for the end of the crisis in Syria and the region in general as soon as possible.

“A lot of Armenian citizens did not leave Syria and continued their work and production, and now look positively to the improvement and development of the situation ,” the ambassador concluded.
