Russia, China, Iran: Syria Faces Foreign-Backed Terrorism

 

 

 

BEIRUT,(ST)- Syria, Russia, China and Iran  have stressed the need to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria as the only option. They called for immediate action to stop sending money and weapons to the armed terrorist groups, stop violence and start a comprehensive national dialogue.

A statement circulated  by the Iranian embassy in Beirut following a meeting between ambassadors of Russia ,Iran, China and Syria to Lebanon on Friday evening   read that “the ambassadors of the four countries emphasized during  the meeting that the ongoing violence in Syria, supported by certain  foreign countries,  and targeting the  Syrian state , has only resulted in  further destruction , and  should be immediately stopped. “

The ambassadors noted , the Syrian army , government and people stand against  the terrorist acts carried out by armed terrorist groups coming mostly from outside Syria, calling for the adoption of “democratic methods attained  through the ballot box to determine the political future of Syria.”

The  ambassadors  also noted the  role  of the media in covering the reality of events taking place in the region, expressing hope that all regional and international players would deal realistically with the region’s political files and help halt sedition  and bloodshed  of the people of the region.

Worthy mentioning that  the meeting was held  at the house of the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon  and was attended by the  ambassadors of Syria, Russia and China in Beirut.
