Syrian Scientific Olympics National Authority crowned Outstanding Winners for 2014-2015

Damascus, (ST)_ Under the patronage of Mrs. Asma al-Assad, the national commission for the Syrian Scientific Olympics held yesterday a ceremony for crowning outstanding winners at the national level in mathematics, physics, chemistry, natural sciences and informatics for 2014-2015 course, in a concert at Dar al-Assad for Culture and the Arts in Damascus.

 The coronation ceremony honoring the winners was attended by minister of presidential affairs Mansour Azzam, representing Mrs. Asma al-Assad and a show entitled “the story of the nation” was displayed highlighting the Olympics march since its inception in 2006.

Medals and certificates of appreciation were distributed to first winners.

In mathematics, the winners were Ahmad Abu Dan from Aleppo, Gelnaar Shahoud from Homs Mark Jabbour from Latakia, in physics Khaled Klaeb Ashabi from Homs, Ammar Kurdi from Aleppo and Fajer Afasheh from Latakia, in chemistry Tammam Hawa from Homs, Yazan Zidan from Latakia, and Ghifran Khalil from Damascus,in natural sciences Salim Mansur from Damascus, Nada Asaad from Homs and Dunabwl Hamamji from Aleppo. In informatics Mohammed Dweik from Aleppo, Mahmoud Hassan from Damascus, and Muhammad Ziad al-Qabaqibi from Damascus.

Minister of Higher Education Dr. Mohammed Amer Al-Mardini said that the goal of the Syrian Scientific Olympics is to highlight the talents of the young generation and develop their scientific abilities.

Minister of Education, Dr. Hazwan al-Waz that celebrating this event is an evidence on the ability of the Syrians and their determination to achieve excellence and creativity, no matter how intense attempts are made to disrupt the will of the Syrians by targeting all walks of life.

Chairman of the National Olympic Imad al-Azab said that number of participants exceeded

42,000 young participants in this great event which is organized in collaboration between the ministry of education and other sides concerned.
