Charlie Hebdo prophet cartoon reflects ‘blind hatred of Islam’, says Levant Scholars Union

The Levant Scholars Union has condemned the publication of new cartoons insulting the Prophet Mohammad [PBUH] by the French magazine Charlie Hebdo, according to the official news agency (SANA).

The agency quoted the union as saying in a statement released Thursday that insulting the prophet Mohammad [PBUH] is  ‘terror act and provocative’ and reflects ‘blind hatred of Islam’.

The Union stressed that neither cartoons, nor terrorism nor conspiring could undermine the holy status of Prophet Mohammed [PBUH].

‘Publishing biography of the Prophet Mohammad [PBUH] is the best response for the publication of the cartoons. We [Muslims] must not be dragged into reckless reactions that might pave the way for further insulations,” the statement read.

The statement underlined that terrorism is produced by the west and it has nothing to do with Islam.

The French magazine published the cartoons a week after the deadly attack on it office in Paris.
