Syrian Arab army kills over 40 terrorists and destroys arms depots in Daraa countryside

PROVINCES,(ST)_Military sources have confirmed the death of over 40 terrorists in Daraa countryside during today’s military operations.

The sources clarified that 15 terrorist were killed and an arms depot belonging to them was destroyed in al-Sheikh Meskin town outside Daraa.

While the other 25 terrorists were eliminated in al-Mzerib town near the Jordanian border, the sources said, pointing out that army units wiped out other arms depots plus two hideouts and a vehicle equipped with anti-aircraft gun belonging to terrorists in al-Ghareyeh al-Gharbeyeh town north-east Daraa city.

Clashes in Daraa al-Balad

The same province [Daraa] witnessed clashes between an army unit and terrorists affiliated to the al-Nusra Front and the ‘Lewa’a Tawhid al-Janob’ [the brigade of unifying the southern area] and the ‘Madfaeyet Sejjel’ battalion in al-Bahhar quarter in Daraa al-Balad.

“Two terrorist hideouts and two vehicle equipped with anti-aircraft guns were destroyed in the clashes,” a military source declared.  

Terrorist organizations announced through social networks that dozens of their members were killed in Inkhel town in Daraa countryside.  

Meanwhile, there were military operations against terrorist organizations in al-Mderjeh al-Gharbeyeh and Ein Hsin towns in Talbesih area outside Homs.

Last night, army units in cooperation with popular defense groups warded off ISIS attack on Kherbet Jdo’a and Tal Ghazal areas, about 45 km east Qameshli and inflicted heavy losses upon terrorists, according to the official news agency (SANA)

The agency added that army units targeted terrorist outposts in the eastern countryside of Daraa and killed many terrorist there.  

Agreement between al-Nusra Front and ISIS

On the other hand, the Beirut-based al-Mayadeen TV channel reported that Al-Nusra Front gunmen withdrew from Beit Sahm town in Damascus countryside after the people of the town organized protests against them for a month.

“The withdrawal of al-Nusra gunmen came after an agreement reached between the ISIS and the al-Nusra Front to fight together against other armed groups,” al-Mayadeen asserted.

In this context, the Damascus-based al-Watan newspaper confirmed that the process of withdrawal from the town has not been implemented yet.
