Hoss: Imposing New Restrictions on the Syrians do not Reflect True Syrian-Lebanese Relations

BEIRUT, (SANA)_Former Lebanese Prime Minister Dr. Salim al-Hoss stressed that the decision taken by the Lebanese authorities provided to impose new restrictions on the Syrians “was not successful,” in not reflecting  fraternal  relations that should always  prevail between the two countries.

In a statement yesterday, al-Hoss called for  reconsidering  this decision  adding , ” we are aware of the need to organize the Syrians flow to Lebanon as a result of traumatic events in Syria for the benefit of everyone in the two brotherly countries , which can be  only done in coordination with the Syrian government , for the  interest of the special relation between the two countries.”

Meanwhile, member of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party Lebanese MP Marwan Fares stressed  that the actions that have been taken  concerning the displaced Syrians in Lebanon are in , “contrary to the cooperation and brotherhood treaty  signed between the two countries,” pointing out that Syrian-Lebanese relations  are based on the principle of ” one people in two states” .

“The crimes of terrorism are the same in Syria, Iraq and France,” Fares added in a statement yesterday , stressing that “the Orient which has taught  human civilization to the  world does not accept these crimes and we strongly  condemn and deplore them with the strongest terms  .”

Moreover, a statement issued by the meeting of the Lebanese national parties yesterday  stressed that the new decision on the entry of Syrians to  Lebanon   in its “present form” is a negative precedent affecting relations between the two countries, which are linked to  common agreements.

The statement added that the  Lebanese government  should have examined  such a decision before taking it, since it will have negative repercussions on bilateral relations and harm the interests of the Lebanese people,” calling for its  “correction” , in accordance with the agreements concluded between the two countries and to communicate with the Syrian government in this regard.
