Development of Cooperation with India, BRICS

DAMASCUS, (ST) – Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Hammam Al Jazairi discussed with Acting of Indian Embassy in Damascus S.R. Mina ways to improve relations of bilateral cooperation between the two countries to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples.

Dr. Al Jazairi stressed the need for communication between Syria and India at the government level and businessmen in order to establish an effective approach for the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation between them and redefine and explore possible areas of cooperation.

He called on developing appropriate frameworks for cooperation and joint investment, particularly with respect to projects that can be implemented in Syria and the joint strategy of funding and benefit from the Indian experience, especially in the areas of railways, communications technology and biotechnology applications, pointing to the importance of developing bilateral cooperation with India and Member States of BRICS.

The minister praised the positive attitude of the Government of India and the Indian scholarships allocated to Syria, stressing the importance of taking advantage of these grants because of the positive expected role of them in upgrading the skills of the Syrians trainees.

For his part, the chargé d’affaires expressed readiness to activate bilateral economic and trade relations, stressing that the Indian Embassy in Damascus will make all possible efforts to further strengthen cooperation between the two sides in various fields.

He also pointed out that he will transfer all the visions and proposals that discussed with the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade to the Indian government and the concerned authorities in the country.
