DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Faisal al-Miqdad yesterday offered condolences of the Syrian leadership, government and people over victims of heinous attack on a school in Peshawar , Pakistan on Tuesday at the Pakistani embassy in Damascus.
“On behalf of Syria ‘s people , government and children , we are here to convey to the Pakistani ambassador our heart-felt condolences to our brothers in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, leadership, government and people for the demise of the victims of the crime committed by the Taliban gangs against the people of Pakistan in Peshawar,” Dr. Miqdad told reporters
Dr. Miqdad stressed that terrorist acts do not exclude any people and thereby the Syrian and Pakistan peoples have been victims of terrorist and criminal acts, stressing “the need to consolidate efforts to combat terrorism, and that Syria and Pakistan maintain close relations in this area , pointing the need of further efforts to prevent Parties that feed and finance terrorism from killing innocent people.
He said that terrorism targeted children in Pakistan, as happened in Syria, where terrorists bombed schools, recalling the “criminal incident, which was recently committed against Ikrama schools concentration in Homs ,” which means that the tools of terrorism commit the same crime everywhere.
He voiced solidarity with the people of Pakistan on this occasion and condemned this unprecedented act of terrorism, and expressed determination of the Syrian leadership and people to face of terrorism, no matter how expensive the sacrifice , stressing that Syria will achieve victory in challenging terrorism.”
For his part, Ambassador of the Republic of Pakistan Wahid Ahmed expressed deep thanks to the Syrian leadership, government and people for their condolences, and their support for his country in this tragedy , reflected in terrorists attacks against schools in Pakistan.
In a statement, he noted that the terrorist ideology that targets Pakistan and Syria, is but one and there must be a decision and determination to get rid of this thought.
Ambassador Ahmed indicated that Pakistan supports any efforts that can be made in international forums , conducive to the elimination of terrorism in addition to the efforts at the regional level to challenge terrorists, expressing confidence that Syria will emerge from the crisis victorious against terrorism which targets the Syrian people.
Dr. Miqdad was accompanied by Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Ayman Susan and Director of the Asia Department at the ministry.
Worthy mentioning that Taliban claimed responsibility for carrying out the terrorist attack on a school run by the Pakistani army in Peshawar , which claimed the life of 148 people, mostly students , injuring more 124 others.
