Syria, Iran Kick off Talks in Tehran on Boosting Cooperation

TEHRAN, (ST)-Syria and Iran today morning started official talks in the Iranian capital Tehran under the co-chairmanship of Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi and the Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri.

During the talks, al-Halqi stressed that the Syrian people have been able to achieve victory in the most heinous global war humanity ever faced thanks to the steadfastness of the Syrians, the cohesion between the people, the army and the leadership and the support of Syria’s friends, particularly Iran, the staunch defender of the rights of the region’s peoples.

 

Al-Halqi reiterated the Syrian people and leadership’s appreciation over the principled supportive stances of the Iranian people and government towards the Syrian people in confrontation of the ongoing global war on Syria. He hailed the Iranian efforts, under the leadership of President Hassan Rouhani and the Spiritual Leader of the Iranian Islamic Revolution Ali Khamenei, as to alleviate the repercussions of the destructive economic war and siege on Syria, through being keen to supply the Syrian people with elements of steadfastness including food materials, oil derivatives and equipments for electric energy stations, hospitals and factories.

Iranian Investments in Syria urged

The premier urged the Iranian businessmen to carry out investments in Syria, asserting that the talks aim first of all to reach new work mechanisms to enhance cooperation between Syria and Iran in all domains.

He pointed out that the talks will result in signing several cooperation agreements covering different fields as to help boost investments in Syria particularly in the areas of oil, industry, agriculture, trade and tourism.

Al-Halqi affirmed that Syria and Iran are the main supporters of resistance against enemy’s schemes which aim at destabilizing the region and stealing its resources, stressing that the strategic alliance between Syria and Iran will foil suspicious western schemes in the region.

Syria is facing Zionist Conspiracy

On his part, Jahangiri said Syria is facing a Zionist conspiracy in which some countries in the region are taking part aiming to undermine resistance in defense of which Syria has been standing in the frontline.

The talks dealt with bilateral relations and prospect of cooperation in the economic, industrial, trade, banking and agricultural fields in addition to the agreements signed between the two countries and the need to sign more cooperation agreements.

Syrian and Iranian ministers as well as senior officials from both sides attended the talks.
