Syrian Arab army clashes with ISIS terrorists at international road in Hassaka, kills 8 terrorists in Homs
PROVINCES,(ST)_Syrian army has clashed with ISIS terrorists trying to attack the international Tal Tamer road and several towns in Hassaka amid reports of killing many terrorist ringleaders in Homs.
According to the official news agency (SANA), army units and popular defense groups clashed today with terrorists affiliated to the ISIS [known as Daesh in Arabic] at the international Tal Tamer road, which links Hassaka and Raas al-Ein and lies 40 km far away from the center of Hassaka province.
The ISIS terrorists tried to attack the international road plus towns of al-Manajer, al-Aghbesh, Tal al-safa in Raas al-Ein area, which is located 85 km north-western Hassaka near the Syrian-Turkish border, a source at the province told SANA.
It confirmed the death of many ISIS terrorists in the clashes which erupted a day after engineering units defused a car rigged with 300 kg of explosives near Teachers Union’s headquarters in Hassaka city.
Meanwhile, an army unit in cooperation with popular defense groups killed over 8 terrorists, including ringleaders in the ‘Ahrar al-Sham’ movement and the ‘al-Mohajerin’ brigade, in al-Waer quarter in Homs province.
More terrorists were eliminated in Rhom town and near Enq al-Hawa and Mas’adeh towns in the eastern countryside of the same province [Homs].
While in Daraa province, an army unit mowed down terrorists as they were trying to set up a checkpoint in al-Msefreh town in the eastern countryside of the province.
Several heavy machineguns belonging to terrorists in the western edge of Bosra al-Sham in Daraa countryside were destroyed by army units.
Heavy fighting in Handarat camp in Aleppo
Last night, the Beirut-based al-Mayaden TV channel reported that Syrian army recaptured al-Mallah farms, which lies west Handarat area in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, in the wake of a military operation started on Sunday at dawn with the participation of popular defense groups.
“The operation resulted in inflicting heavy losses upon gunmen and destroying many of their vehicles,” the TV channel’s reporter said, confirming that Handarat camp is witnessing fierce fighting.
Few months ago, Syrian army regained control of Handarat town and cordoned off Handarat camp in order to recapture it from terrorists.
The fresh gain has not been confirmed by military sources through official media.
