Al-Halqi: Government Seeking Partnership with Private Sector to Establish Strong Tourism Industry

DAMASCUS, (ST)-The Syrian government is seeking the establishment of strong tourism industry in Syria in partnership with the private sector in order to support the national economy and create new job opportunities that attain social stability and all-out sustainable development, Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi said on Sunday.

Al-Halqi was speaking during the meeting of the Higher Tourism Council which was dedicated to discuss ways of reactivating the country’s tourism sector.

 

The premier stressed the importance of encouraging the sector of tourism being one of the basic supporters of national income and comprehensive development. He affirmed the need to amend legislations, enhance human resources, ensure suitable infrastructure and promote tourism to increase the contribution of the tourism sector in the Gross Domestic Production.

Al-Halqi pointed out that the government is keen on assessing the situation of all sectors as to fix problems, combat corruption and enhance performance with the aim to preparing all sectors to the reconstruction era.

On is part, Bisher Yazigi, the Tourism Minister talked about the situation of the Tourism Sector and the possibility of carrying out new tourism investment projects.
