Shaaban: Russia Support for Syria in Fighting Terrorism Unwavering

DAMASCUS, (ST) _ Political and Media Advisor at the Syrian Presidency Dr. Butheina Shaaban stressed that Syria’s steadfastness and continued sensible and  logic struggle to fight terrorism plays a key role in the region and on the international scene and that Syria can play a major role in the fight against terrorism which threatens Europe and the US United.

In an interview with the Syrian TV yesterday, Shabaan explained that “Daesh” terrorist organization is not a Middle Eastern or Arab industry, but an international one, noting that its media performance indicates that the West has goals and strategies in the region, mainly to maintain Israel’s security and weaken the Arab armies.

All rumors on changing Russia’s position towards Syria is groundless

Shaaban stressed that the visit of the Syrian delegation to Moscow, headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moualem was successful and proved that Russia’s position is unwavering  concerning Syria’s support in the fight against terrorism, in honoring the Syrian people’s decision and ensuring Syria unity, noting that rumors on a change in Russia’s position towards Syria are groundless.

Shaaban explained that Russia plays a great role in mitigating the consequences of roles pursued by certain countries such as Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia on the course of events indicating that the coming days will force these countries, particularly Turkey to change its policy, pointing to the existence of strong evidence of the success of the recent Syrian-Russian meeting and that its results are beginning to emerge and economic changes will be reflected positively on the lives of Syrian citizens, very soon.

Russian ideas about Inter-Syrian dialogue intersect with the Syrian vision

Shaaban indicated that the Russian ideas about inter-Syrian dialogue intersect with the Syrian vision, adding that it was agreed during the visit to continue consultation between the two governments in order to lay the foundations for this dialogue.

She explained that Syria is waiting for results to be concluded by the UN envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura, of consultations with other parties, stressing that the Syrian government is keen on the interests of Syria and its people.

“Russia’s relations with Turkey could help ease the Turkish poison, because what is happening in Syria is a war led by Turkey and that the Syrian people know that Turkey arms and facilitates the passage of terrorists into Syria, ” she said.

Turkey Policy in the region will face standstill

“I think Turkey has more than one reason not least internally in order to change its policy in the future because its policy in the region will face a standstill and its results will be reflected on Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ahmet Davutoglu, “Shabaan stressed.

Concerning the Iranian- western rapprochement, whether it will be at the expense of Syria Shaaban confirmed that Iran is a strong state in the region and when its relations are good with the world it will serve our interests.

She continued that Gulf governments did not say that they will cooperate in the fight against terrorism, and we bet on people, not governments, and expressed hope that Arabs and pan-Arab parties will be able to take a position even at the level of coordination.

Shaaban stressed that the countries that believe in freedom and dignity of their people are on the rise and countries, which targeted Syria, like Turkey, Syria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the US are in decline, denying the existence of any Egyptian mediation for Saudi – Syrian rapprochement.
