Syria, Pakistan Discuss Cooperation on Combating Terrorism

LAHOR, Pakistan, (ST)-Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Lahham and Chairman of the Pakistani Senate Committee for Defense and Foreign Affairs Mushahid Hussain on Monday discussed methods of boosting parliamentary relations and enhancing cooperation on Combating terrorism.

 The two officials stressed the importance of consolidating cooperation between the Syrian People’s Assembly and the Parliament and Senate of the Pakistani National Assembly to serve the interests of both countries.

Al-Lahham talked about the war which is being waged against Syria by terrorist takfiri organizations backed by some Arab countries, Turkey and the West. He urged a decisive stance by all countries as well as regional and international organizations towards terrorism fighting in implementation of related international Security Council resolutions.

On his part, Hussain, who is chairing the organizing committee of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly’s 7th Session currently held in the Pakistani city of Lahor, said that Pakistan is closely following up what is going on in Syria, affirming the importance of the Syrian delegation’s participation in Lahor’s meetings to explain the reality of events in the country.

The Pakistani official hailed the historical relations between Syria and Pakistan and expressed confidence that the Syrians are able to defeat terrorism as done by Pakistan which sacrificed a lot in its battle against terrorism.
