Syrian Arab army kills al-Nusra Front leader in Sheikh Meskin town in Daraa, destroys ISIS hideout in Der Ezzour

PROVINCES,(ST)_An arms cache belonging to al-Nusra Front in Homs plus a hideout of ISIS in Der Ezzour were destroyed on Thursday by Syrian army, according to military sources.

A military source in Homs province declared that army units destroyed an arms cache belonging to al-Nusra Front in farms of Ahmad Salim and Abdulaziz al-Ebid near the ‘al-Mustafa’ Mosque in al-Rastan city, which lies about 20km north Homs city and 21 km south Hama city.

It added that army units killed many terrorists near Jarjeseh town on the west-northern edge of al-Rastan dam and in towns of Khattab, salam Sharqi and Em Sehrej in the eastern countryside of Homs.

The terrorist organizations use al-Rastan lake to convey weapons and munitions by boats to carry out criminal acts against civilians living in nearby towns.

13 ISIS terrorists killed

In Der Ezzour province, Syrian army destroyed a 30-meter-long tunnel and a hideout of the ISIS [terror organization known as Daesh in Arabic] in al-Jbeleh quarter and targeted ISIS groupings in al-Hwejeh, Hwejet Sakr, al-Hweqa and al-Reshdeyeh.

At least 13 terrorists, most of them non-Syrians, were reportedly killed during clashes between Syrian army and terrorist groups in Hwejet Sakr.

Other hideouts of the al-Nusra Front leaders in al-Sheikh Meskin town in southern Daraa province were struck by Syrian army.

A Saudi leader in al-Nusra Front, dubbed Abo Homam al-Jezrawi,  was among the terrorists killed in the said town, the official news agency (SANA) reported, adding that army units warded off terrorists’ attack on military posts in the town of al-Sheikh Meskin and wiped out several vehicles belonging to terrorists in Daraa al-Balad.

The agency confirmed that Syrian army struck Al-Nusra Front groupings and hideouts in Saqeyet al-Kart, al-Qasatel and al-Qasab towns in the northern countryside of Lattakia amid continuity of military operations in and outside Aleppo.

Clashes between terrorist fronts

On the other hand, the Beirut-based al-Mayadeen TV channel reported that Al-Nusra Front captured towns of Kokba, Ma’arret Hermeh and Hesh in Idlib countryside after clashes with the ‘Thowwar Syria’ Front.

It referred to renewed clashes between al-Nusra Front and the ‘Thowwar Syria’ Front in al-Fqe’a and Kafr Sejneh towns in the same province [Idlib].

Al-Mayadeen also said that many ISIS terrorists were killed and wounded in a car bomb blast near the Sport Club in al-Mayadeen city outside Der Ezzour.
