PM opens conference on ‘role of scientific and research institutes in reconstruction process’

DAMASCUS,(ST)_Prime Minister has said reconstruction process comes within a comprehensive national development project and necessitates community’s compatibility and consolidation of peace and security.   

Dr. Wael al-Halaqi’s remarks came during the opening ceremony of a national conference on ‘role of scientific and research institutes in reconstruction process’ in Damascus.

He briefed the conferees on measures adopted by the government to gear up for reconstruction process , saying that reconstruction process will be firstly launched in the areas  to which peace and stability restored such as Kafer Soseh and Bestan al-Razi in Damascus  and Bab Amro quarter in Homs.

The PM called on businessmen inside Syria and abroad to take part in the process of reconstruction in which Syrian people alongside public and private institutes and friendly companies from the countries that have stood by Syria will participate.

The two- day conference held by the Higher Commission for Scientific Research aims at exchanging ideas and experiences, discussing the contribution  of  scientific and research institutes to reconstruction process at national level and to all sectors in order to formulate proposals serve the process of reconstruction.

Researchers representing about 27 public and private scientific and research institutes are taking part in the conference kicked off today.

Topics

Among the topics to be debated during the conference are- management of reconstruction process, role of the Syrian Investment Commission in the process, modern building technologies, crisis’s effects on water, power and agriculture sectors, current situation of Syrian industry, psychological impacts of the crisis on children and teenagers, rehabilitation  of transport sectors’ infrastructure, challenges that face Syrian woman in the light of the ongoing crisis, rehabilitation of polluted areas in oil fields and how to benefit from the ruins of buildings.

A scientific committee composed of 18 experts are to draw up the proposals to be submitted to the cabinet.
