MOSCOW, (ST) _ The Russian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the Syrian government contributes “significantly” in challenging the threat posed by terrorist organizations.
In a statement yesterday, the Russian foreign ministry said that the report of the Independent International Committee on Syria stresses that the international community must work jointly according to UN Security Council Resolutions 2170 and 2178 to serve the fight against terrorism and defend human rights.
It added that Moscow fully supports the committee ‘s call for the resumption of the inter- Syrian dialogue in order to normalize the political situation in Syria, stressing that cooperation in the fight against terrorism should be the most important topics to be discussed in the negotiations between the Syrian government and the various opposition spectra.
The Russian FM also expressed hope the report will help to unify the international community to challenge the growing terrorist threat and the crisis in Syria to be resolved.
It also hoped that UN special envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura, and the UN bodies concerned with the situation in Syria to take account of the report’s findings and recommendations, especially that it has clearly emphasized that terrorism is the main threat to Syria and the region, and that efforts of the Syrian government, the opposition and the international community should focus on combating it in the first place, pointing out that Moscow has repeatedly warned against this danger.
Russian Foreign Ministry asserted that the report of the Independent committee recorded numerous cases of brutal crimes carried out by Daesh terrorists in Syria of killing, torture and mass executions without trials and the kidnapping of hostages and human trafficking, sexual rape cases and slavery and using soldiers children and cleansing on ethnic and sectarian grounds.
It indicated that members of the Human Rights Committee expressed concern about Daesh large organizational capacity and its potential used in the development of systems and the laws insulting to humans, who are obliged to abide by and implement of fear of death, noting further concern of the UN staff over extremists ways of dealing with youth and adolescents in introducing psychological pressures aiming to consolidate the extremist attitudes in their minds.
In a another context, the Russian Foreign Ministry, in a statement, expressed concern over reports of civilians killed by bombing of the international coalition led by Washington against sites of Daesh terrorist organizations in Syria.
However, the Committee report entitled “The rule of terror of life under the domination of Daesh ” was set at the request of Russia, with the support of other 17 countries.
The head of the Independent International Committee on Syria Paulo Pinheiro held the European countries, the US, and countries in the region responsible for the flow of foreign terrorists into Syria to join “Daesh” terrorists.
Pinheiro stressed during a special session of the committee in New York several days ago that the lack of border control has contributed to acts of terrorism, revealing that “Daash” receives money transfers through European and regional banks, indicating that Daesh had committed war crimes and crimes against humanity.
