DAMASCUS,(ST)_National Reconciliation Committee at the People’s Assembly [Parliament] has debated the formation of a central reconciliation committee made up of legislative and executive authorities.
“The central reconciliation committee will be a reference and a framework for the national reconciliation process which is the ‘safe corridor’ for the crisis in Syria,” The Head of the National Reconciliation Committee MP Omar Ousi told reporters following the meeting held today.
He asserted that the framework of reconciliation at national level is based on partnership between the reconciliation committee, parliament and government.
“Executive authority has proposed a project to form a central committee for national reconciliation,” Ousi clarified.
Add to that, the committee’s members suggested ideas to disseminate culture of citizenship and reconciliation via media outlets through hosting intellectuals, clergymen and writers in televised programs and symposiums.
They underscored that religious discourse must focus on reconciliation using argumentation and persuasion.
The Committee’s members also called on all national parties to focus on culture of reconciliation.
They indicated the need for regularizing situations of arrested persons and issuing a law on civilian martyrs.
