Lt. General Ayyoub in Jabal al-Shaer area outside Homs

HOMS,(ST)_Chief of the General Staff of the Army and Armed Forces Lt. General Ali Abdullah Ayyoub has paid a visit to Jabal al-Shaer area in the northern countryside of Homs, the Syrian TV channel reported Saturday.

The Chief of Staff listened to a full explanation from field commanders in Jabal al-Shaer on missions carried out against terrorist organizations in the area.

He provided the fighters with directives, hailing the sacrifices offered by army units and popular defense forces to cleanse the area from terrorists.

The fighters stressed their readiness to continue fighting until achieving victory over the enemy.

The Chief of staff was accompanied by several officers.

Yesterday, there was an infiltration bid by terrorists belonging to the ISIS [known as Daesh in Arabic] into Jabal al-Shaer area, but army units foiled it.

On November 6, 2014, army units in cooperation with popular defense groups imposed control over al-Shaer gas field and surrounding hills in eastern countryside of Homs.
