Baath Party National, Regional Leaderships Urges Focus on Illegality of Balfour Declaration

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Marking the 97th anniversary of Balfour Declaration, The National and Regional Leaderships of the Baath Arab Socialist Party issued statements renewing their condemnation of the ill-famed declaration which helped the establishment of the Zionist occupation on the sacred land of Palestine.

The national leadership reiterated its firm and principled stance in support for the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to self determination, to the establishment of an independent state with al-Quds as a capital and to returning to their homeland.

“Palestine will continue to be the core cause of the Arab nation and the central cause of the Syrian people, the national leadership said, stressing that the enemies’ attempts to undermine the Palestinian cause and to pressure Syria to change its unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s rights are destined to failure.

It urged national political parties and movements as well as international organizations to shoulder their legal, moral and humanitarian responsibilities to back the legitimate resistance against the Zionist occupation and to further uncover Israel’s crimes against the Palestinians and its violations of UN Charter and international laws. It also urged focus on the illegality of Balfour Declaration, because it is a promise to give a land by a person, who doesn’t possess this land, to a third party which is completely a stranger.

“It is nothing but a political promise written by the Zionists themselves, but doesn’t give them any legitimacy to usurp the Palestinian lands, the national leadership said.

The Baath Party Regional Leadership, on its part, affirmed that the Zionist state terrorism against Palestine is similar in style and goals to the terrorism of the mercenaries and terrorist organizations targeting the Syrian land.

The leadership pointed out that the Syrians, the Palestinians and all honest national people are in the same confrontation line against the Zionist enemy and terrorism.
