Lebanese Army Command: We are Determined to End Abnormal Situation in Tripoli

BEIRUT-The Lebanese army command on Monday affirmed the continuity of military operations in the northern city of Tripoli, refuting ceasefire rumors.

“We are determined to end the abnormal situation in Tripoli, said the  army command during a phone call with the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA), pointing out that all the news circulated about a ceasefire agreement are just rumors.

According to NNA, the Lebanese army started Monday morning to enter into Tabbaneh neighborhood to comb the area searching for gunmen.

A gunman opened fire at Lebanese army personnel who were combing the streets in Tabbaneh next to Abdullah bin Masood mosque which prompted them to respond with fire, as reported by NNA.

Last night, the army began to evacuate civilians from Tabbaneh districts and moved them to more secure places. 20 ambulances with medical teams entered the clashes sites in the city to evacuate the wounded and provide medical aid to those who needed.
