Turkey and Qatar support extremist groups in Libya, says Libyan Parliament’s Speaker

TRIPOLI, (ST)_Speaker of the Libyan Parliament Aqeleh Saleh Qweder has underscored that Turkey and Qatar support extremist groups in his country, according to media sources.

The sources quoted Qweder as citing that he informed the Turkish President’s Representative and the Qatari Deputy Foreign Minister that Libya has reservation about communication between their countries and outlaws.

On the other hand, Qweder said that the operation led by the retired colonel Khalifa Hifter is a ‘self-defense operation’ and it receives instructions from Chief of Staff of the Libyan army.

The Libyan army has regained control over the most of Benghazi city east Libya and it arrived in the heart of the city, Libyan local sources said today.

The sources added that the Libyan army carried out today a wide-scale operation against the ‘Ansar al-Share’a’ organization [a terror organization] in al-Lathamneh area in Benghazi.

The city of Banghazi has witnessed clashes between the colonel Hiftar-led forces- affiliated to the Libyan army- and extremist militias.
