Syria censures Sinai’s ‘ugly massacre’ against Egyptian army and security forces

DAMASCUS,(ST)_Syria has censured Yesterday’s Sinai terror attack that killed at least 34 Egyptian soldiers and wounded 50 others.

An official source at Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a statement released today that the Syrian Arab Republic strongly condemns the ‘ugly massacre’ perpetrated by armed terrorist organizations against army and security forces north Sinai in Egypt.

It added that such criminal acts serve but Israel and its aggressive plots.

“This terrorism which is supported by known international and regional sides threatens security and stability in our Arab states,” the source concluded.

‘Foreign-funded operation’  

In this context, the Egyptian president Abdul Fattah al-Sisi declared that the attack on an army checkpoint north Sinai was a ‘foreign-funded operations’, vowing to take a drastic action to uproot terrorists.

His remark came before cameras ahead of military funeral for the killed soldiers.

“There are foreign powers that want to break the back of Egypt…Egypt is engaged in an extensive war that will last for a long time… there is a conspiracy against us,” the Egyptian president affirmed.  

He called on the Egyptians to be aware of what is being hatched against them and to be vigilant with the army and police.
