Syrian-Russian Cooperation Committee Continues Preparations for Holding Its 9th Session

SOCHI-Preparations and discussions to hold the 9th session of the Syrian-Russian Economic, Trade, Technical and Scientific Cooperation Committee continued today between the two sides in the Russian city of Sochi.

 Head of the Syrian delegation to the permanent cooperation committee, Finance Minister Ismael Ismael and the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Humam Jazaeri talked about the progress of discussions on economic cooperation and on signing a cooperation protocol based on reactivating trade exchange and developing suitable mechanisms to increase the share of the Russian products in the Syrian markets and vise versa, particularly the Syrian agricultural and textile products.

The protocol was distinguished in terms of specifying promising fields of Russian investments in Syria mainly in the domains of energy, electricity, oil, gas, industry and construction.

The two sides’ discussions focused on attaining elements of recovery in Syria and resuming the process of investment and economic development in the country.

Preparatory meetings for holding the 9th session of the Syrian-Russian Permanent Cooperation Committee started yesterday and co-chaired by Ismael Ismael, the Syrian Finance Minister and the Dmitry Rogozin, the Russian Deputy Prime Minster.

Ministers and senior officials from both sides took part in the meetings.

Joint workshops were held to discuss prospects of bilateral cooperation and possibilities of preparing draft agreements on trade exchange and cooperation in different sectors with the purpose of promoting and increasing the Syrian agricultural and industrial products to Russia based on mutual benefit without harming the interests of the Syrian consumer.
