Syrian army makes fresh progress north-east Aleppo, tightens grip on terrorists east Jobar quarter near Damascus
PROVINCES,(ST)_Syrian army has tightened grip on terrorists from al-Nusra Front and the ‘Haron al-Rashid’ brigade east Jobar quarter near Damascus and has regained control of the Free Zone north-east Aleppo after it recaptured al-Mselmeyeh town, according to media sources.
The sources said that Syrian army is seeking to recapture the junction of Zamalka bridge east Jobar quarter near Damascus in order to isolate Jobar quarter from nearby towns of Ein Tarma, Zamalka and Erbin.
A military source told the Beirut-based al-Mayadeen TV channel’ reporter that Zamalka bridge is a main supply routes for gunmen from Zamalka, Erbin, Saqba, Hammoreyeh and the Eastern Ghouta towards Jobar quarter.
“The army units are moving forwards from west to east to retake the junction of Zamalka,” a field commander said.
Gunmen have blasted high building in Jobar quarter in order not to be captured by Syrian army, the TV channel said, adding that movement in the northern edge of Jobar is still dangerous as there are snipers targeting everyone despite the fierce fighting with the army units.
Goals of military operations in Aleppo
In another development, media sources confirmed that Syrian army regained control of the free zone north-east Aleppo after it recaptured al-Mselmeyeh town near al-Jbeleyeh town.
Syrian army is reportedly advancing in north-east Aleppo amid collapse of terrorists’ defenses.
Yesterday, Syrian army recaptured al-Jbeleyeh town and surrounding facilities on the outskirts of Aleppo central prison north Aleppo.
The ongoing military operations in Aleppo aim at cordoning off eastern quarters, advancing into north, recapturing strategic sites in northern countryside of the province [Aleppo] such as Hayyan and Byanon and breaking terrorists’ siege on Nobbel and al-Zahra’a towns north-west Aleppo.
Dozens of terrorists killed in Homs
In central Homs province, Syrian army destroyed al-Hafez Tower in al-Waer quarter as there were dozens of terrorists inside it.
A hideout for terrorist ringleaders in al-Rastan outside Homs was pounded by Syrian army, according to the official news agency (SANA).
The agency added that Syrian army obliterated a hideout for al-Nusra Front on the outskirts of Maerdabseh town in Idlib countryside and thwarted terrorists’ infiltration bid into a garrison in the surrounding of Em al-Mayathen town outside Daraa.
Syrian army also struck sites for terrorist organizations in Quneitra and Der Ezzour, killing many terrorists.
