Turkey escalates its sinister role in supporting terrorism

It is an irony for the government that has been supporting the armed terrorist groups financially and militarily to claim that it would join the so-called international coalition against terrorism. Turkey’s parliament has voted in favor of a motion that would provide the legal ground for Ankara to deploy forces to Iraq and Syria and launch attacks against Syrian and Iraqi territories.

The declared policy of the Turkish government represents a real aggression against a member state of the United Nations. The move is a blatant violation of the United Nations charter, which stipulates respect for the national sovereignty of states and non-interference in their domestic affairs.

Over the past four years, Turkey has been providing political, military and logistic support to terrorists and aided the arrival of foreign terrorists in Syria. The international community and, in particular, the Security Council, should act to put an end to the adventures of the Turkish leadership, which represents a threat to world security and peace. Ankara has been a major supporter of foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists operating to topple the Syrian state since March 2011.

The government of Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan has regularly facilitated the entry of the armed terrorist groups into Kassab area in Lattakia countryside. Erdogan’s acts are a violation of international resolutions. These acts prove that the Syrian leadership was right when it said that Erdogan and his government are involved in international terrorism. The persons who entered Lattakia northern countryside are neither opposition members nor Syrian citizens; they are groups of armed and trained foreigners with certain purposes and agendas. Ankara’s move to facilitate the intrusion of the foreign-backed terrorists into the Arab country is in violation of international resolutions as it constitutes involvement in terrorism. The escalation started by the government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the borders with Syria under flimsy pretexts seeks to support terrorist groups rather than fighting them.

Erdogan’s government supports terrorist groups who openly claimed responsibility for attacks targeting safe villages and towns in northern Syrian, namely the groups known as the Islamic Front of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) and Jabhet al-Nusra, both of which are listed as terrorist organizations by the Security Council.

Erdogan’s government, considered, planned, approved and carried out an aggression against Syria is irrefutable, and this aggression was carried out on behalf of terrorism and has nothing to do with Turkish national interests.

This aggression comes at a time when public resentment is growing over Erdogan’s government and its involvement in the war on Syria and its turning of Turkish border towns and cities into harbors for terrorists coming from all over the world who openly declare hostile intents against the secular system in Turkey and against the safety of Turkey, its army and citizens.

Erdogan is fabricating pretexts and justifications to drag Turkey into a war against Syria.  Erdogan is responsible for all the blood that is shed in Syria because he provided all kinds of direct and indirect military support to the armed terrorist groups in Syria. Erdogan will be tried in the international courts because of his involvement in Syria dangerously.

The UN should take all measures required to condemn the Turkish involvement in supporting the armed terrorist groups.

Erdogan’s intention to launch military attacks against Syrian and Iraqi territories reflect his failure to handle the needs of the Turkish people who have rejected the Turkish government’s hostile policies against Syria as they also rejected the corruption which Erdogan is involved and uncovering the involvement which led to the Turkish people to take part in massive protests against Erdogan demanding the departure of his regime.

This escalation came in the framework of the aggressive policies of Erdogan’s government and its openly-provided support to the armed terrorist groups. The terrorist groups have taken up the Turkish lands as a shelter, springboard and arming center for them to kill innocent Syrians and destroy the infrastructure of the Syrian people.
