Miqdad: Syria condemns in strongest terms Hollande support for Turkey on the Buffer Zone

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Responding to a question by SANA yesterday about French-Turkish statements on French support for the Turkish embedded intentions against Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, Deputy Foreign Affairs and Expatriates minister Dr. Faisal Miqdad  stressed Syrian government stand with the Syrian residents in Ein al-Arab, commending their heroism in challenging Daesh terrorist attacks.

“Syria condemns in the strongest terms the position of French President Francois Hollande about his support for Turkey ‘s effort on the buffer zone, “ he said, adding that this French position unmasks Hollande position in supporting Erdogan’s hostile intention against the Syrian people, in arming foreign terrorists and facilitating their move into Syria for shedding the blood of its people.

This French support, he continued, contradicts the UN Charter and UN Security Council resolutions that call for fighting terrorism, especially resolution 2170, which calls on the international community to fight “Daesh” and “al-Nusra Front ” and UNSC resolution 2187 provides for halting any support for foreign terrorists in Syria and Iraq, confirming that this French support for Turkey is an aggression against Syria.

Miqdad concluded his statement by saying that Syria draws the attention of the international community to the need performing its duty towards the humanitarian catastrophe in Ein al-Arab and to stop any support for terrorist organizations, including armed French and Turkish support for these organizations.
