NEW YORK- Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations has criticized the briefing presented to the Security Council by the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs in Syria Valerie Amos, stressing that it was false and incomplete and it didn’t cope with the latest dangerous developments on ground.
In a press conference following the Security Council session yesterday, al-Jaafari said “in her briefing, Amos ignored shedding light on the poisoned vaccines smuggled to armed terrorist groups in Syria via Turkish mediators.”
“These vaccines didn’t enter Syria across official bordering crossings approved in the Resolution No. 2165 and they claimed the lives of tens of innocent Syrian children and caused the suffocation of hundreds of other children in Idleb countryside. Those, who smuggled the vaccines to Syria, are a group of criminals and gangs who want to take the government’s place only to get money from donors,” a-Jaafari added, stressing that Amos kept silent as if she had known nothing about this disastrous scandal.
Al-Jaafari pointed out that Amos said in her briefing that the World Food Program wasn’t able to convey aid to civilians in Deir Ez-Zour and Raqqa for three successive months but she didn’t say why.
“Amos doesn’t want to clarify how dangerous and bad the situation in these two provinces is as a result of the existence of armed terrorist groups which prevent humanitarian aid to reach civilians there,” he asserted.
The Syrian diplomat also said that Amos didn’t mention the word “terrorism” even once in her briefing and according to her, all the Australian, French and Chechnian terrorists are “armed Syrian opposition”. She also ignored the mortar shells fired by the terrorists against civilian areas in the cities of Damascus, Aleppo and their suburbs where hundreds of innocent people were killed and wounded, he added.
He went on to say that Amos didn’t mention, even once, al-Noura Front terrorist group in her briefing. She only talked about ISIL without classifying it as a terrorist organization because according to her ISIL, al-Nousra Front and all the terrorists who came to Syria from all over the world are “armed opposition groups”.
“All what Amos wants is to ask for more funds to continue the relief operations, some of which included poisoned vaccines. She kept ignoring facts and her behavior misleads the Security Council,” al-Jaafari said.
