Syrian, Russian Electric Cooperation

Damascus, (ST) – Minister of Electricity Imad Khamis recently discussed with representatives of the Russian company “Inter RAO” specialized in electric generating stations and future investment in the electricity sector.
The members of the delegation of the Russian company expressed their desire to develop prospects of joint cooperation, pointing out that this cooperation will continue through a project to expand the Tishreen station with a capacity of 300 MW, where the delegation was briefed on the work site and details of the project.

 They affirmed their willingness to cooperate in the construction of new power plants and the expansion of power plants including Banias and al-Zara.

 “Russian companies will be at the forefront of companies that cooperate with Syria in the near and long term investment in the electricity sector, pointing to the historical and distinctive relations that link the two countries,” the minister clarified.
He also said that his ministry is ready to implement its vision of new generation plants of 3500 MW in cooperation with the Russian side.
