Syrian Arab army cuts off ISIL supply routes in Der Ezzour, foils terrorists’ bid to occupy buildings on outskirts of Damascus

PROVINCES,(ST)_ Syrian army has foiled terrorists’ bid to occupy buildings on the outskirts of Damascus and cut off the ISIL supply routes in Der Ezzour, according to media reports.

The reports said today that army units clashed with terrorists that infiltrated from Yarmouk camp into Zahera area in the outskirts of Damascus and killed many of them.

“As many as 24 terrorists infiltrated at dawn from Yarmouk camp-through sewer pipelines- into Zahera area and attacked a checkpoint,” the reports clarified, adding that the situation in Zahera area in now under control and the army units are still surrounding the remaining terrorists holed up inside one building in the area.

Meanwhile, Syrian army cut off the ‘State of Iraq and the Levant’ organization’s supply routes in Der Ezzour city after a series of military operations during which many terrorists affiliated to the organization were killed and injured.

There were also clashes between Syrian army and the ISIL-linked terrorists in Jbeleyeh, Erfi and Matar quarters in the city of Der Ezzour.

While in Der Ezzour countryside, Syrian army eliminated over 20 ISIL-linked terrorists in Mohsen area and pounded one of their hideouts in al-Mayadeen city.

Other hideouts for terrorists in several areas outside Daraa, Damascus and Idlib were obliterated by Syrian army. 

Hiding place and tunnel discovered    

In a further development, Syrian army discovered a hiding place containing various types of weapons for terrorists in Hamedeyeh quarter in old city of Homs and found a 500-meter-long tunnel in Adra area in Damascus countryside.

One of the al-Nusra Front ringleaders, dubbed Abo Omar al-Hemsi, was killed when Syrian army targeted terrorist groupings in Jroud Esal al-Ward in Qalamoun area outside Damascus.
