Khamenei: US Claims About ISIS Empty, Biased

Tehran – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday that US claims about forming a coalition to fight the Daesh terrorist group (ISIS) are ˈemptyˈ and ˈbiasedˈ.

Speaking to reporters after being discharged from a Tehran hospital this morning, the Supreme Leader commented on major regional and international developments, particularly the so-called US-led coalition against Deash terrorists in Iraq and Syria.

The Supreme Leader underwent a routine surgery in a public hospital on September 8 and was discharged this morning in complete health condition.

What has happened in Iraq which broke the backbone of Daesh was not done by Americans but by the Iraqi people and Army. Both Daesh and Americans know this well,” said the Leader.

He added there are evidences indicating that US claims about fighting Daesh terrorists “are lies.”

Commenting on statements of the US Secretary of State about not inviting Iran to join the so-called anti-Daesh coalition, the Leader said: “We are proud that the US has become disappointed at Iran not having a part in a collective wrongdoing.”

But Iran announced from the very beginning that it would not join such a coalition, said Ayatollah Khamenei.

On the very first days of Daesh incursion into Iraq, the US ambassador to that country asked his Iranian counterpart for a meeting between Iranian and American officials to discuss bilateral cooperation on the issue of Daesh terrorists.

The Supreme Leader said he was opposed to the “Americans’ request” after being informed of the issue by Iranian officials.

“I said we do not work with the Americans as they have evil intentions and stained hands. How is it possible to cooperate with Americans under such circumstances?”

Referring to failure of US previous coalition for Syria, the Leader said: “In the past Americans had formed a coalition against Syria with a heavy propaganda fuss but they failed to do a damned thing. This will be true for their coalition on Iraq too.”

Iran will never trust US anti-ISIL coalition, says Fazli

On the other hand, Iran’s Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli says the Islamic Republic will never trust the US-led so-called international coalition to tackle the Takfiri ISIL militants.

Addressing reporters on Monday, Rahmani-Fazli said Iran would never trust the Americans in the fight against ISIL terrorists and other issues because they have shown double standards on many occasions.

“The Americans have followed double standards on such issues as fighting terrorism, human rights, peaceful use of nuclear energy and tens of other cases,” the Iranian minister explained.

He said there is evidence that the US and certain countries which have formed the coalition against the ISIL terrorists have previously provided the militants with financial, logistic and political aid.

The minister added that Iran has been a regular victim of and threatened by terrorism, stressing, “We regard the fight against terrorism as our duty and will support Syria and Iraq in this regard.”

Rahmani-Fazli’s remarks came after US President Barack Obama said on Friday that Washington is assembling an international coalition to “snuff out” the ISIL terrorist group, adding that such extremist groups have “no place in the 21st century.”

France is also hosting an international conference aimed at discussing the rising threat of the Takfiri ISIL militants and coordinating actions to knock out the terrorists.
